• The first garage door motors to enter the domestic market was the Digi door 1, Pro Alpha and Coroma garage door motors.
• All of these were 220 volt ac garage door motors.
• All were all very strong and reliable and not maintenance was needed to kept them operating garage doors.
• The only down side to the older 220 volt ac garage door motors were, that when power outages were present, they would not be able to operate. At that point in time, power outages were not a common aspect and thus the garage door motor would hardly be used manually.

• All steel roll-up garage doors to be automated with ET DC Blue Advance roll up garage door motors.
• ET Nice manufacturers are situated in Eden vale area and thus after sales service is exceptionally good.
• Gemini GDO 24 volt garage door motors.
• Gemini is also the only garage door motor system that supplies a system on which two roll up garage doors can be automated by one garage door motor controller / motor.
• The Gemini range of garage door motors are well known in the Pretoria region as they are manufactured in Silverton by DMI Engineering.
• Parts availability is not a concern when fitment of this garage door motor is done.
• All of the current garage door motor systems do use a worm shaft and main gear system “wiper motor system” and thus it is commonly found that the factory fitted grease/ lubricant is not adequate to prevent premature wear and tear on the gears.
• It is advised that the gearbox system be inspected, periodically and proper lubricant added to extend the gearbox system life.

• Looking back at garage door motors, it is commonly found that garage door motor gearboxes fail due to the incorrect tension on the garage door springs.
